Face Feeling Puffy? Detox Your Skin With These 4 Steps
By Jo Placencio
Did you wake up with puffy eyes today, either because of a night of overindulgence or lack of sleep?
Don’t worry: I’ve got you covered. Here are the best ways to detox your skin for a radiant glow.
Step 1: Sip Your Way to Healthy Skin
Start your morning with a cup of warm lemon water. Lemons are natural diuretics. Adding this to your warm water will help to reduce the amount of salt retained in your body. It is a healthy way to flush out anything that’s causing puffiness in your skin.
Step 2: Wake Up Your Eyes with a Mask
Many eye masks come packed with ingredients to help wake up your eyes and reduce puffiness in the eye area. Using eye patches with caffeine can greatly help to reduce puffiness. Caffeine is a star player in skincare products, especially in the eye area.
Petitfee Agave Cooling Hydrogel Eye Masks are a great way to help to revive the eye area. They depuff and refresh as each eye mask is filled with incredible ingredients like caffeine to refresh, plus agave to cool and blueberries to soothe the eyes.
The collagen and minerals in Grace & Stella Anti-Wrinkle + Energizing Eye Mask revitalize and rejuvenate the delicate area around the eyes leaving you looking more awake and depuffed. Plus, the hyaluronic acid helps lock in moisture for smooth, supple skin. Pro tip: keep these masks in the fridge for an extra depuffing boost.
Step 3: Roll Your Way to Glowing Skin
If you don’t have a jade roller, it might be time to invest in one. Jade rollers are a great tool for detoxifying skin and reducing fluid buildup, helping to fight puffiness. I like to massage my skin with the smaller roller end of the tool as I find this helps to even out the fluid. Pro tip: Keep the roller in your fridge. The cooler roller helps to constrict blood vessels, which helps to prevent the flow of fluid to the tissue and further reduce puffiness. And always clean your jade roller after use, by washing with a gentle cleanser and patting dry.
I also like to use my jade roller to more evenly apply serums, like the Supermood Youth Glo Radiance Serum.
The Kitsch Ice Roller is another tool that is similar to a jade roller and excellent for depuffing.
Step 4: Cool Off with Cucumber
If you’re feeling puffy, grab some cucumber slices—cucumbers are fabulous to calm puffy eyes and a natural diuretic. Or, you can pick up one of these refreshing products infused with cucumber as an alternative:
Pixi Beauty Skintreats DetoxifEye Depuffing Eye Patches: These patches help to depuff and detoxify the skin in the eye area. Each patch contains cucumbers to soothe and calm.
BioRepublic Skincare Cucumber Breeze Soothing Fiber Beauty Sheet Mask: This mask does it all: in addition to helping to reduce puffiness, it also soothes stressed skin, improves your complexion, tightens pores, and reduces the appearance of fine lines.
The key to life is balance. You should never deprive yourself of the things that make you happy. Healthy Indulgence is fine, just make sure you monitor your intake of things that you know may make you puffy or bloated, and make sure to take care of yourself with adequate sleep and hydration.
And remember: bloat is temporary—it’s not worth stressing over. Breath, smile, and remember that you are beautiful!
